I’m never worried that the
squirrels will eat my
birdseed.
Maybe it’s squirrel seed.
Why would I use the gas and
spend the money to
haul home feed for
one species while wishing to
shoo away another?
I love nature, not just birds.
I’ve never worried that the
ants will find the
hummingbird cocktail.
It’s sugar — what’s not to love?
Why would I fill the glass bulb and
screw on the base and
hang it upside down for
the bumblebirds and not let
the workers have a donut?
I love life, not just the pretty kind.
I’ve never worried that other
people will benefit from the
rights I fight for.
We’re all in this time together.
Why would I carry a sign and
march down the street chanting
words of resistance and equality
and not want every body to
experience justice?
I love freedom, not just mine.

love this and you…. and I’m TRYING to be more magnanimous towards the damn squirrels that dig up my plants and frustrate me! I’m taking a fellow gardeners solution and hoping it works for me…
Once upon a time, when I had outdoor dogs, they so helpfully kept the squirrels, deer, bunnies, racoons, armadillos and groundhogs from tearing up my plants and beds. I clearly took that for granted and having been without that assistance for the last several years has been challenging! Hence the search for solutions… I’ll be placing many, shiny, bright, pretty pinwheels in the plants that the deer love so much, and I’ll be purchasing a squirrel feeder!
I’m of the opinion that we can find solutions to problems that don’t have to be harmful, even when it’s challenging! While I struggle with being magnanimous towards those who seem to delight in cruelty, I still believe that justice, true justice, can benefit all of us.
Thanks, dear one. ❤️
